Last Updated: March 31, 2026

At Legal Armour, we understand that when you use our service, you are trusting us with some of your most sensitive moments. Our mission is to protect your rights, and that begins with protecting your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation.

1. Accountability

Legal Armour is responsible for all personal information under our control. We have designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with these principles.

Internal Protections: All employees and contractors undergo background checks and rigorous training on the handling of sensitive legal data.

Third Parties: When we use third-party service providers (such as cloud storage), we use contractual means to ensure they provide a level of protection comparable to our own.

2. Information We Collect

We limit the collection of personal information to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by Legal Armour.

A. Account Information

When you register for our $27 flat-fee service, we collect:

Name, email address, and phone number.

Billing address and payment card information (processed via secure, PCI-compliant third parties).

Province of residence (to ensure the correct provincial legal advice is provided).

B. Encounter Data (The “Shield” Video)

When you activate a call on our website, we collect:

Live Video and Audio: Real-time streams of your encounter with law enforcement.

Geolocation Data: Your precise GPS coordinates to facilitate emergency alerts and verify jurisdiction.

Metadata: Time, date, and duration of the encounter.

C. The Digital Glovebox

If you choose to upload documents for easy access during a stop, we store:

Photos of your Driver’s License, Vehicle Registration, and Proof of Insurance.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for the following purposes:

Legal Defense: To provide real-time legal advice during your encounter.

Evidence Preservation: To provide you with a secure record of your encounter for use in legal proceedings.

Emergency Services: To notify your designated emergency contacts of your location when you “Activate Shield.”

Account Management: To process your $27 monthly payment and provide customer support.

4. Consent

By signing up for Legal Armour and clicking “Activate Shield,” you are providing express consent for the collection of video, audio, and GPS data.

Withdrawal: You may withdraw your consent at any time by cancelling your membership and requesting account deletion. However, we cannot provide the service without the ability to stream video and audio during an encounter.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

Legal Armour does not sell your data. We only disclose your information in the following limited circumstances:

To Your Emergency Contacts: Only when you trigger an activation call.

To Licensed Counsel: To the lawyers in our network who are providing you with advice.

Legal Requirement: We will only disclose your video footage to law enforcement or government authorities if we are presented with a valid search warrant or court order issued by a Canadian court. We will notify you of such requests unless legally barred from doing so.

6. Data Storage and Residency

Canadian Sovereignty: To protect you from foreign surveillance and data laws, all Legal Armour video footage and personal data are stored on secure servers located within Canada.

Encryption: All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (SSL/TLS).

7. Retention and Destruction

Active Data: We keep your encounter videos for the duration of your membership so you can access them at any time.

Inactive Accounts: If you cancel your membership, we will retain your data for 7 years (to comply with legal limitation periods in most provinces) unless you explicitly request a “Right to be Forgotten” deletion.

Secure Disposal: When data is no longer required, it is cryptographically wiped from our servers.

8. Your Rights: Access and Accuracy

Under Canadian law, you have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of all personal information and video footage we hold about you.

Correction: Challenge the accuracy of your information and have it amended.

Portability: Request that your data be moved to another service provider.

9. Transparency and Openness

We do not use “dark patterns” or hidden fees. Our $27 flat fee is transparent, and our privacy settings are easy to find in your Member Dashboard. We will notify you via email of any significant changes to this policy.
